Tiz the Law Tops Weekly Triple Crown Media Rankings

Written By Fairway Jay on July 7, 2020

Each week  of the media around the country vote on the nation’s top contenders on the Triple Crown and Kentucky Oaks trails in the NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll.

It’s no surprise to see Belmont Stakes winner Tiz the Law continue on top of the poll. But who are the other leading thoroughbreds on the Triple Crown and Kentucky Oaks trail? Two fillies made this week’s Top 10 list on July 6, Gamine and Swiss Skydiver.

You can follow the points leaders for horses vying for a spot in the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.

Tiz the Law also closed at 2-1 odds in Pool 5 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager June 28. Honor A.P. (6-1) and Authentic (11-1) were next, with Uncle Chuck (11-1) and Cafe Pharoah (14-1) also contenders in the 23 individual entries. The field (all other 3-year-olds) was 8-1 in Pool 5 of the KDFW. Pool 5 generated $219,945 in win bets for the 2020 Kentucky Derby.

As the COVID-19 heath crisis derailed the Triple Crown schedule and moved the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby back to Sept. 4-5, Churchill Downs added additional points races to the Kentucky Derby trail.

Later developing 3-year-olds are taking advantage as Uncle Chuck won the Los Alamitos Derby on July 4 to earn Derby points and move into the latest NTRA poll.
