Written By Christopher Feery on May 8, 2020

The stakes schedule for this Saturday is really light. That’s the bad news. On the positive front, another track is returning to the party and will be up and running with live horse racing action.

We’ll walk through that and everything else you need to know about the full Saturday slate, but let’s begin by taking a look at the top stakes race on the docket.

The Full Saturday Schedule

We once again have five tracks scheduled to run on Saturday, but it’s a little different than the last few weeks. Oaklawn Park isn’t in the mix, but Weber Downs has been added into the equation. Here are the details on what each track has on tap.

Gulfstream Park
12-Race Card
First Post at 12:45 PM

The aforementioned stakes race is the biggest highlight for Gulftream, but there’s also a $55k Allowance for Race 7 and a pair of $40k+ Allowance Optional Claimings for Race 10 and 11. The Rainbow Pick 6 is also growing as we speak.

Los Alamitos
9-Race Card
First Post at 6 PM ET

It’s night time Quarter Horse action out at Los Alamitos on Saturday The biggest highlight is the $30,000 La Pacifica Handicap, a 350 yard sprint on dirt with seven starters in the field. That’s Race 9 on the card with a scheduled post time of 9:44 PM PT.

Remington Park
10-Race Card
First Post at 6 PM ET

Quarter Horses will be in action at Remington on Saturday as well. All races on the card share the same parameters: $15k Trials, 350 Yards, Dirt Track. The only difference is the number of starters in the field, which ranges from nine to 10.

Tampa Bay
10-Race Card
First Post at 12:30 PM ET

Additional daytime thoroughbred action will come our way from the other major Florida track. Eight of the 10 races on the card have purses under $20k. The exceptions are in Race 7 and 8, a $20k Maiden Special Weight and $20.5k Starter Allowance.

Weber Downs
11-Race Card
First Post at 12 PM ET

Last but not least, Ogden, UT-based Weber Downs returns to action on Saturday with Quarter Horse action. These are all 330 yard races with starters ranging from seven to 10. Race 1 is an Allowance, while the remaining races are Trials.

Carryover Pools to Watch

As we head towards the weekend, we have a trio of carryover pools which bear watching, the highlight of which is the growing Rainbow Pick 6 at Gulfstream. Here are the dollar amounts in the pot as of this writing for all three pools.

$1,233,520 Gulfstream Park Pick 6
$70,617 Tampa Bay Downs Pick 6
$20,764 Los Alamitos Pick 6

Please note that all three tracks will be running on Friday. If any of the pools are hit by a lone bettor, then it will be quite the Mother’s Day weekend for the ticket holder. When there’s a situation in which multiple bettors hit the Pick 6, then a portion is split amongst the winners while the rest of the pool carries over.

In other news, as states begin to ease lockdown restrictions, we should start to see other tracks coming on line over the next few weeks. Stay tuned to Playfecta.com for updates as we’ll be tracking developments closely.

Best of luck this weekend and enjoy the races!
