To date, the Spring racing calendar has understandably been pretty quiet due to current circumstances. However, things are about to start getting a little noisier. A number of tracks are ing the ranks of those that are actually up and running with live horse racing action.
A total of eight venues have cards scheduled for Saturday, so we have many more options to consider than we’ve had for the past several weekends. At the top of the list is a number of intriguing stakes races. Let’s take a look.
$75,000 Roar Stakes
Race 6 on an 11-race card at Gulfstream Park is a $75k stakes race for three-year-olds. It’s a 6 1/2 furlong affair on a dirt track with six starters. Green Light Go checks in as the morning line favorite with odds of 6-5.
$75,000 Powder Break Stakes
Race 9 at Gulfstream is another $75k stakes race, this one for three-year-old and upward fillies and mares. It’s a 1 mile race on turf with 11 starters scheduled to go. Got Stormy has been deemed the morning line favorite with odds of 9-5.
$100,000 Musical Romance Stakes
The final stakes of the day at Gulfstream comes in Race 11. A $100k purse is there for the taking for three-year-old and upward Florida-bred fillies and mares. It’s a 7-furlong event on dirt with 9 starters and Lady’s Island as the 7-5 morning line favorite.
$150,000 Echo Eddie Stakes
Santa Anita Park returns to action with a 10-race card. This $150k stakes race for three-year-old California horses is among the highlights. It’s 6 furlongs on dirt with nine starters. Big Sweep tops the board with odds of 5-2.
$150,000 Evening Jewel Stakes
Race 8 at Santa Anita is another $150k stakes, this one for three-year-old California fillies. It’s 1 mile on turf with 14 starters in the field. Bulletproof One got the nod from oddsmakers as favorite with odds of 5-2.

Carryovers to Watch
Last but not least, we have a number of carryover pools that are growing as of this writing. Please note that all of the tracks listed below also have cards scheduled for Friday.
$196,637 Gulfstream Park Pick 6
$128,872 Tampa Bay Downs Pick 6
$75,561 Santa Anita Park Pick 6
$18,785 Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races Pick 6
$18,560 Los Alamitos Pick 6
For the full jackpot to pay out, it needs to be hit by a lone bettor. On days in which there are multiple winning tickets, a portion of the pool is paid out to winners while the remainder carries over.
Since the busy Saturday racing card should see a good deal of action, pools that aren’t hit on Friday could see a nice spike for the weekend. Enjoy the races and best of luck!
