Following last weekend’s Road to the Kentucky Derby prep races, two more are scheduled for the opening weekend of February. The $250,000 Grade III Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in Tampa, Florida, comes on Super Bowl weekend. The 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds offers Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers (10-4-2-1).
So does the $250,000 Grade III Withers Stakes at Aqueduct in Queens, New York — the first 1 1/8-mile Derby prep of the season.
