With racing resumed at Delaware Park and the opening of racing at amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Monmouth Park safety guidelines
Owners of horses working out on specified mornings at Monmouth Park will be able to watch their charges from a newly designated area the track announced this week.
On Friday through Sunday, beginning on June 26, from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., owners may be present in a temporary venue at the Blu Grotto — an all-weather location next to the Bluegrass mini-golf course adjacent to the racetrack.
Monmouth Park has been closed to all but essential personnel since COVID-19 restrictions were enacted on March 16. Under New Jersey’s Stage 2 of the loosening of those restrictions, owners with a valid ID will be permitted to enter through the Blu Grotto entrance off Port au Peck Avenue, undergoing temperature checks along with a health questionnaire.

Delaware Park is taking precautions with patrons
Delaware Park, which resumed racing on June 17, this week enacted attendance limit protocols.
Under the new provisions, Delaware Park will reduce the attendance capacity to 1,000 total patrons, inside and outside. On a first come, first served basis, only 500 patrons will be given wristbands and allowed entrance to the clubhouse and grandstand areas.
The Grove and picnic areas at Delaware Park can hold another 500 patrons, with no immediate changes to safety protocols in those areas.
For patrons accessing the clubhouse and grandstand areas, additional safety protocols will include:
• All patrons will have their temperature taken prior to being granted access to the clubhouse.
• Temperatures will be taken by thermal imaging camera or a touchless, handheld thermometer.
• All patrons will be asked two health screening questions about if they have any symptoms related to COVID-19 or if they have had any close with a person testing positive for COVID-19 during the previous 14 days.
• Guests flagged by a temperature reading of 99.5° or higher (as established by Delaware Health & Social Services), or flagged by the health screening questionnaire will be prohibited from entering.
• Guests demonstrating symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to immediately vacate the property.
• Patrons entering the clubhouse will be given a wristband that will need to be worn at all times.
• All patrons must possess a face mask when entering the property; bandanas will not be acceptable.
• Face masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times while inside the clubhouse, except when eating.
Non-compliance will result in a warning to the patron and could result in the patron being asked to leave the property.
Racing at Delaware Park will continue through closing day, Oct. 17. Live racing will be conducted on Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from July 16 through Oct. 1. The first race post time is 1:15 p.m.
