The biggest day of racing at Indiana Grand is Wednesday, July 8, when six stakes races and large fields and prize pools should generate significant Kentucky Derby weekend, Sept. 4-5.

The $200,000 Indiana Oaks (G3) for 3-year-old fillies drew 11 entries, and the $300,000 Indiana Derby (G3) has 10 contenders with both races contested at 1 1/16 miles.

The revised horse racing schedule due to the COVID-19 health crisis has opened the gate for additional qualifying races offered by Churchill Downs for the tracks’ biggest races.

Indiana Grand is a recipient of one such race, with its biggest day of racing featuring the Indiana Derby. It will be the state’s first consequential sports event during the pandemic held with fans in attendance.
