There wasn’t a lone winner of the Gulfstream Park Rainbow Pick 6 over the weekend, so that means that the pool has once again climbed to an eye-popping level. As of this writing, the carryover stands at $1,036,320.
Gulfstream will be up and running again on Thursday, May 7. We can safely expect interest to grow substantially in the carryover now that it has sured the magical $1M mark.
For days in which the pool isn’t hit by a single winner, a portion is paid out to winning tickets while the balance carries over. The Rainbow Pick 6 captures lots of betting interest in general, so the pools have a tendency to grow pretty quickly.
As it rises, that sets the stage for some nice payouts on winning Pick 6 tickets until it’s hit by a lone . Here’s a look at what the payout was for the last three days of racing action at Gulfstream.
Sunday, May 3 – $15,693.30
Saturday, May 2 – $2,478.62
Friday, May 1 – $2,448.72
It’s just $0.20 to take a crack at the Pick 6. You have to pick consecutive winners in six designated races, which is naturally not an easy trick to turn. To enhance chances, many bettors will add multiple selections to their betting tickets.
As selections are added, the cost of entry rises right along with it. For an example, choosing two horses for each race in the Pick 6 would result in a ticket cost of $12.80, and so on.
Chasing the Gulfstream pool will be a highlight for later this week, but we have some other action to look forward to as well. Let’s take a look.
The Week Ahead
There’s one more carryover to keep an eye on as we get set for the weekday horse racing circuit. The Pick 6 at Tampa Bay Downs checks in at $52,536 as of this writing with the next racing day set for Wednesday, May 6.
As for racing cards to look forward to, many tracks remain at a standstill in the current environment. It’s the usual suspects in action for the early part of the week with others picking up the slack beginning on hump day.
Fonner Park
The Nebraska-based track continues to hum along this week with a trio of cards set to run Monday through Wednesday. All three have the same parameters set: 8-race cards beginning at 4 PM ET.
Will Rogers
For those looking for action a little earlier in the day, Oklahoma-based Will Rogers also has cards set for Monday-Wednesday. All three days will feature 10-race cards beginning at 1:15 PM ET. Highlights include a pair of $17k Handicaps for Race 7 and 9 on Wednesday.
Tampa Bay
The aforementioned $52k carryover should draw some additional attention to Tampa Bay Downs, which has cards scheduled for Wednesday and Friday. The Wednesday card is eight races with a first post of 1 PM ET, while Friday’s card kicks off at 12:45 PM ET with nine races on tap.
Remington Park
Another Oklahoma track will handle the evening shift this week. Remington Park will be up and running with Quarter Horse action for Thursday and Friday. First post is set for 6 PM ET for both days of action with a pair of 10-race cards on tap.
Gulfstream Park
Last but not least, Gulfstream is back in action on Thursday and Friday. It’s 11 races on both days with a post time of 1 PM ET. The Rainbow Pick 6 begins with Race 6 on both days, which has a scheduled post of 3:45 PM ET.
While the horse racing circuit remains light overall, the bright side says that we have action to look forward to each day this week. In a perfect world, the calendar will continue to fill up as conditions warrant across the nation.
